EBAY
eBay is one of the web's most successful companies with a global customer base of 233 million with 84 million active users in 37 markets worldwide.
In 2007 alone, eBay sold $90 Billion of inventory.
This means that eBay users worldwide trade $1,900 worth of goods every second.
The search and finding teams are essential in facilitating these transactions and for all of 2007 and most of 2008, I was the only visual designer assigned to the Search and Finding flow. A large portion of this position was the globalization and internationalization of page layout, text treatment and page width.
I was also responsible for the genesis of the Yukon Design System, the first official redesign of eBay.com which is now present in over 90% of the site. Yukon is a modular design system that has saved eBay millions in design and development costs through the use of standards and patterns.
ROLE IN PROJECT:
My primary responsibility to the Finding team in 2007 was visual design.
In 2008 my role was more evenly divided between visual design and UI design as I worked with smaller teams on tailored shopping experiences and verticals.
